Now here’s my personal take on the matter: IF you’re interested in where your beef comes from, please call your Senators and tell them personally that you want Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL). IF you would like more information regarding MCOOL, please contact R-CALF USA or check out their website. The state and national, and some regional ‘cattlemens’ associations are not interested in supporting American producers, let alone the American consumer. They have all bought into the ‘Big 4’ packers that don’t give a rip about you as a consumer, nor do they care what the cattle producers think. We have labels on clothing, appliances, chicken, pork, fish, eggs, produce, furniture, light bulbs, etc…. but God forbid we label our beef with country of origin. Why is this a problem…. follow the money. I want to know where my beef comes from. American producers have strict standards and laws we have to follow when raising and sending livestock for processing for the health and safety of not only our families, but also for the animals, the environment and you, the consumer.
