and so it begins
At least we got some rain out of it and the snow stayed on the mountains! We knew it was coming at some point. The weather has been wonderful and the trees even were allowed to change color and fall off their branches, unlike last year. Even the tips of the mountains got a dustingContinue reading “and so it begins”
U.S. sheep industry
Hey, hobo, what’s this about sheep? You’re always talking about cows. Cattlemen & women are supposed to hate sheep. Sheep ruin the range, eat everything in sight, blah, blah, blah. Well, hate to tell you this but any vegetable-eating critter can destroy the landscape if left un-managed. And, besides, we don’t hate sheep (well, exceptContinue reading “U.S. sheep industry”
insights from a meat processor
Working on some odd ball ‘projects’ at the moment but thought that you all may enjoy an old article that I had posted on my old blogger blog before goggle had decided to cause issues for me. It’s a pretty good article from the Weston A. Price Foundation about meat and its processing. A littleContinue reading “insights from a meat processor”
September 7th, 2020 started out with high wind advisories and a continuation of high temperatures. It was Labor Day. Smoke showing really strong.” TheContinue reading “3 years ago…”
2023 calving

A couples of months before we expect calving to begin we start watching the back ends of the cows for signs of calving being around the corner. More on what kindaContinue reading “2023 calving”
art day results…
The 2023 calves are now the cool kids on the block. They’re styling with the latest trend amongst young cattle their age. Green ears, simple tattoos and radically cool hair cuts. The day began with a morning roundup, calves sorted away from mom and us getting some stuff set in place since it was goingContinue reading “art day results…”
day 2 … out of sequence
What’s that? I’m sorry, I’m just a little late on the continuation of my days off from, oh, about a month or so ago. It’s been a little busy around here. And usually when there is a day off it involves something that is related to cattle critters. And not just ONE day, but TWOContinue reading “day 2 … out of sequence”
books
No, I’m not selling a book nor am I writing one. Sorry to disappoint (or maybe there’s cheers of joy!) 🙂 but I thought I’d pass along that my two favorite agricultural book sellers are having their annual sales. I don’t get any money from these guys but I do spend some money there atContinue reading “books”

Oh, yeah, baby!!! Art class is about to begin. Can you guess what we have in store for today? (hopefully it won’t draw into tomorrow but one never knows when Mr. Murphy decides to show up to the party) Until next time…~hobo
